In the twilight of the first age of magic there was a great reckoning that claimed the lives of many great and powerful wizards. With the phenomenal power that magic grants anything is possible. Sadly, the first caste of wizards quickly fell into the misleading path of death and destruction. Most confused these with true power, and so many of the the first wizards died in a great war. There was one who knew the true meaning of power. She snuck away from the battles and brought a gem with her. The seed that gave life to the earth. The seed that sows happiness in the hearts of all.
She brought these seeds to a humble farmer. He knew nothing of the Wizard War, but everything about nurturing and growing. He took the gems and planted them, caring for them as he would any of his crops. But in the wake of the destruction and despair cast upon the earth by the great war, the seeds grew slowly. It was generations of his family that tended this garden, until one day the plant that grew flowered, and eventually dropped nine seeds.
